NEARLY A SECOND FOR NORWICH! Godfrey's long-ranger is parried by Adrian and Hernandez is the first player on the loose ball. He gets a shot away from an angle but Gomez slides in to make a vital block.
90'
Wijnaldum miscontrols a pass from Robertson and then brings down Cantwell to concede a free-kick inside his own half. Only two minutes have been added on.
89'
Farke will be pleased that his side are still chasing another goal. They win themselves a corner - their second of the match - which comes to little.
88'
Liverpool are pretty much going through the motions now. The hard work was done in the first half with their four goals and, one or two promising moments aside, they have not managed to match those levels in the second 45.
86'
J. Milner enters the game and replaces Roberto Firmino.
Firmino makes way for Milner as we enter the final five minutes at Anfield. Liverpool will change shape for the closing stages.
85'
SAVE! Three Liverpool players stand over the free-kick a few yards outside the area. Salah and Henderson leave it to Alexander-Arnold, who whips the ball around the wall but is denied by Krul.
83'
J. Drmić enters the game and replaces T. Pukki.
Another of Norwich's close-season recruits, Switzerland striker Drmic, is brought on for goalscorer Pukki.
82'
Henderson brings the ball under control in midfield and tries to play in Robertson down the left, but it is ushered out of play. Norwich's third and final substitution is imminent.
80'
ADRIAN TESTED! The visitors win a free-kick and Buendia opts to take it on from 25 yards. The shot is on target but Adrian barely has to break stride to make the save.
Minute
Description
78'
Norwich are continuing to probe away. They have a man over in Hernandez, who is eventually picked out, but the offside flag goes up - a harsh call. Alexander-Arnold's positioning has been poor at times today.
76'
Van Dijk is unhappy with the positioning of central-defensive partner Gomez as Liverpool are nearly caught out again. Mane controls the ball on the left and brings it inside, but his cross towards Salah in the middle is cut out.
74'
S. Mané enters the game and replaces D. Origi.
Origi, who can be happy with his performance today, makes way for Mane. The Senegal international only returned to training on Wednesday so he is far from match fit.
73'
Alexander-Arnold wants to join the party but his shot from all of 35 yards ends in the stands. Liverpool are about to make another change...
72'
Henderson clips the ball towards the back post and Aarons, under pressure from Origi, is happy to help it out of play for another Liverpool corner.
71'
SHOT! Firmino fizzes the ball into the feet of Firmino and the Brazilian flashes a shot off target.
70'
O. Hernández enters the game and replaces T. Trybull.
Hernandez replaces Trybull to become the first Cuban player to play in the Premier League.
69'
Liverpool have had six shots on target and have four goals. There are more positives than negatives for Klopp, of course, but his side have also looked a little shaky at the back and they may be without goalkeeper Alisson for a few games.
67'
Liverpool have lost their way a little over the last 10 minutes or so. Norwich do not really look like scoring a second, but should they double their tally it really would make it game on at Anfield.
65'
E. Buendía gets yellow.
Norwich midfielder Buendia catches Origi on the ankle and joins Leitner in being shown a yellow card.
64'
T. Pukki has scored a goal for Norwich City! Assist by E. Buendía.
GOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!! LIVERPOOL 4-1 NORWICH! Pukki once again gets in behind Liverpool's defence and this time he manages to convert with a smart finish across Adrian, who perhaps could have done more to keep it out. Norwich have a lifeline!
Buendia carved Liverpool's defence open with his pass and Pukki made no mistake when through one-on-one.
60'
M. Leitner gets yellow.
Leitner, on the field for barely a minute, becomes the first player to be shown a yellow card in the Premier League this season for a trip on Henderson.
58'
M. Leitner enters the game and replaces M. Stiepermann.
Farke makes his first change as we approach the hour mark. One German replaces another as Leitner comes on for Stiepermann.
57'
Norwich are constantly giving away possession inside their own half. Robertson puts his foot through the ball from range but is way off target.
56'
SHOTS! Henderson's shot is blocked and Fabinho then has a go from 25 yards. The ball bounces in front of Krul but it is a fairly simple save in the end.
55'
CLOSE! Every last person in the ground can see exactly what Salah has planned as he cuts inside and uses Godfrey as a shield to try to bend the ball past Krul. There is not enough bend on the shot, however, and it ends wide of the far post.
54'
Alexander-Arnold carries the ball towards the byline and sends a deflected cross into the side-netting. The corner is disappointing, but at this rate you would back Liverpool to score at least a couple more before full-time.
52'
Cantwell's drive is always rising over the bar, and the offside flag would have denied him even if he had found the back of the net. Norwich are refusing to sit back.
51'
It took Liverpool less than five minutes of the second half to create their first big opportunity, which they were unable to make the most of. A 4-0 defeat for Norwich is disheartening; losing by double that amount would be a terrible way to start their campaign.
47'
Neither manager made any changes at the interval. It will be interesting to see whether Norwich are as attacking as they were in the first half - surely not!
46'
RESTART! Liverpool, already assured of the three points, get the game back underway at Anfield - albeit a little later than planned!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 4-0 NORWICH
45' +2
Aarons blocked the ball, shall we say, below the belt. The Norwich physio is on and I'm sure Aarons will be okay to continue once he is given a breather.
45' +1
Firmino lines up the shot from 16 yards. He is closed down by Aarons and the sting is taken out of the ball before it reaches Krul.
45'
An outside-of-the-boot pass from Salah spins straight out of play for a goal-kick. Three minutes have been added on at the end of the first half.
44'
Salah lifts the ball over the top and Stiepermann manages to get something to it before Firmino can turn it in. Liverpool are finding all sorts of gaps in the final third and could well score seven or eight today.
42'
D. Origi has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by T. Alexander-Arnold.
GOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! LIVERPOOL 4-0 NORWICH! Liverpool have themselves a fourth goal before half-time and it is Origi, filling in for Mane, who scores it. Alexander-Arnold sends an arrowed cross into the box from deep and Origi gets across his man to guide the header past Krul. As simple as you like for Klopp's men!
This was an impressive cross from Alexander-Arnold high up the pitch, and an even better header from Origi after breaking free from his man.
41'
Liverpool are three goals to the good and seemingly already over the line in terms of the three points. But they have been caught out at the back a couple of times and they have now lost one of their key men to injury. A goal for Norwich would make things interesting.
39'
Adrián enters the game and replaces Alisson Becker.
Adrian, signed on a free transfer earlier this week to replace Mignolet, is on for his Liverpool debut. It is a debut that has come a lot earlier than expected, with Alisson having to make his way off the field with an apparent calf injury.
34'
Pukki shows good movement to get in behind Liverpool, again down the hosts' right. Van Dijk steps across to concede the corner, which Buendia sends in for Trybull to head wide.
32'
KRUL MAKES ANOTHER STOP! Firmino and Salah exchange passes, before the latter plays the ball out to Henderson on the right. The Liverpool skipper's mishit cross is heading for the back of the net, if not for another save from Krul. This could get embarrassing for Norwich.
28'
V. van Dijk has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Mohamed Salah.
Salah now has an assist to go with his goal. The corner was good but Van Dijk should not have been able to head the ball pretty much uncontested.
GOOOOAAAAALLL!!! LIVERPOOL 3-0 NORWICH! Against the run of play, Liverpool add a third goal to their tally. Salah delivers his left-sided corner to the edge of the six-yard box and Van Dijk does not even have to jump to get on the end of it, sending his header through the legs of Krul.
27'
Norwich have managed more shots on target than their opponents - two to one - yet they trail 2-0. Farke will feel that his side have been hard do by so far, but there is still a long way to go in this opening game.
25'
Norwich are playing some very nice football. Their shot count is rising as Stiepermann's powerful half-volley is pushed away by Alisson after the visitors had carved through their opponents' defence.
23'
SAVE! The ball bounces up for Buendia to shoot around 20 yards out. It is an awkward one to hit and the attacking midfielder does not make clean contact, giving Alisson an easy save to make down the middle.
21'
Pukki is flagged for offside but it was marginal to say the least. Last season's Championship top scorer gets a shot away and Alisson makes the save, but the referee Michael Oliver had already blown - which, going by the updated laws, he shouldn't have.
19'
Mohamed Salah has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Roberto Firmino.
GOOOOAAALLL!!! LIVERPOOL 2-0 NORWICH! Salah is off the mark for the season inside the opening 19 minutes of this curtain-raising fixture! Alexander-Arnold, pushing high up down the right, loses possession in the box. But it ricochets around and Firmino pokes it into the path of Salah, who shows great composure to side-foot his shot past Krul.
Firmino remained alert when the ball fell loose in the box to tee up Salah for Liverpool's second of the match.
18'
The game has not properly settled down yet. Liverpool are in control of possession but Norwich have had the odd promising moment in the opening 18 minutes or so.
15'
ROBERTSON HAS A GO! Origi plays the ball into the feet off Robertson, who takes a touch to set himself and then rifles a shot just off target from 15 yards.
13'
Origi's latest cross into the six-yard box is headed away. Norwich are looking dangerous when they get forward, too, with a cross from the left being fizzed right across the face of goal. There should be more goals in this game!
11'
Like we saw regularly in pre-season, Liverpool are being exposed down the flanks. Norwich have already managed to get in behind and Stiepermann should have been doing better from that chance a couple of minutes ago. This has been a decent response from Farke's men.
9'
CHANCE FOR NORWICH! Stiepermann has now had two decent opportunities, either side of Hanley's comical own goal. The visitors get in behind Alexander-Arnold and Pukki flicks the ball into the path of Stiepermann, who slices his shot off target from the edge of the area.
7'
G. Hanley is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOOOAAALLL!!! LIVERPOOL 1-0 NORWICH! The hosts are ahead inside seven minutes thanks to a horror moment for Hanley. Origi is unable to get past Aarons down the left so he sends a cross into the six-yard box and Hanley - one of the more experienced members of this Norwich squad - fails to readjust his feet, sending a sliced clearance past his own goalkeeper.
6'
SHOT! An early warning for Liverpool as Alisson's pass is cut out, causing some panic at the back for the hosts. Pukki carries the ball down the left and pulls it back for Stiepermann, who is unable to keep his first-time shot down.
5'
Liverpool win a corner down the right. The delivery from Alexander-Arnold towards the near post is pretty poor and Norwich clear it away at the second attempt.
4'
It is worth pointing out at this early stage in proceedings that VAR is being used today for the first time ever in a Premier League match.
3'
Three members of Norwich's back four have never played in the Premier League - how will they cope up against the likes of Salah and Firmino? Origi tries to play in Robertson on the overlap but his pass has too much on it.
1'
KICK-OFF! Norwich, aiming to pull off a massive upset at Anfield, get the 2019-20 Premier League season up and running!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Liverpool and Norwich City at Anfield.
Liverpool were runners-up in the Premier League last season, finishing just a point behind back-to-back champions Manchester City. Despite not bringing in any big-name players during the close season, Jurgen Klopp's men have been tipped to push City all the way once again this term as they attempt to end their long-running wait for a first Prem crown.
First up for the reigning European champions is a home match against Norwich, who recovered from a fairly slow start last season to earn promotion from the Championship under former Borussia Dortmund reserve team boss Daniel Farke. The visitors were the lowest-spending side in the top flight during the close season, but Farke is confident of survival in City's first season back in the big time since 2016.
Liverpool subs: Xherdan Shaqiri, James Milner, Adrian, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Matip, Naby Keita, Sadio Mane.
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Jordan Henderson (c), Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi.
NORWICH (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Grant Hanley (c), Ben Godfrey, Jamal Lewis; Kenny McLean, Tom Trybull; Emiliano Buendia, Marco Stiepermann, Todd Cantwell; Teemu Pukki.
Norwich subs: Sam Byram, Onel Hernandez, Mario Vrancic, Patrick Roberts, Moritz Leitner, Josip Drmic, Ralf Fahrmann.
An injury to Alisson was the only blemish for Liverpool in the first half - the Brazil goalkeeper, who has only just returned from Copa America duty, hobbled off the field with an apparent calf problem 39 minutes in. Adrian was brought on for his debut and he has so far had nothing to do. With the points already in the bag, Klopp may well opt to make a change at the interval. As for fellow German Farke, it is now a case of damage limitation.
There is a delay to the second half due to a technical glitch with one of the officials' microphone pack. It has already taken them five minutes to try to resolve the issue...
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
The reigning European champions now turn their attention to the UEFA Super Cup, with Chelsea their opponents in Istanbul on Wednesday, before taking on Southampton on their return to Premier League action a week tomorrow. As for Norwich, they have eight days to get this defeat out of their system before facing Newcastle United at Carrow Road in their next outing.
