Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Coppa Italia quarter-final clash between AC Milan and Napoli at San Siro.
Milan beat Sampdoria 2-0 in the last round of the competition to progress to the quarter-final, but needed extra-time to do it after being held to a 0-0 in normal time. Napoli also registered a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in order to qualify, but did so in 90 minutes. This is the second time that these two sides have faced each other in the past week after facing each other in Serie A on Saturday, with the game finishing in a 0-0 draw.
AC MILAN STARTING XI (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Mateo Musacchio, Diego Laxalt, Alessio Romagnoli, Ignazio Abate; Lucas Paqueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Franck Kessie; Fabio Borini, Krzysztof Piatek, Samu Castillejo.
AC MILAN SUBS: Hakan Calhanoglu, Alessandro Plizzari, Davide Calabria, Suso, Patrick Cutrone, Antonio Donnarumma, Frank Tsadjout, Riccardo Montolivo, Andrea Conti, Jose Mauri, Andrea Bertolacci, Ricardo Rodriguez.
NAPOLI STARTING XI (4-4-2): Alex Meret; Kevin Malcuit, Faouzi Ghoulam, Kalidou Koulibaly, Nikola Maksimovic; Allan, Piotr Zielinski, Fabian Ruiz, Amadou Diawara; Arkadiusz Milik, Lorenzo Insigne.
NAPOLI SUBS: Adam Ounas, Mario Rui, David Ospina, Jose Callejon, Dries Mertens, Orestis Karnezis, Marek Hamsik, Gianluca Gaetano, Sebastiano Luperto.
Last season, Milan reached the final of the competition, but lost out on picking up the trophy to Juventus. They will be hoping to better that result by winning the tournament for the first time since 2003. Napoli, on the other hand, haven't reached the final since they last won it in 2014 and will want to avoid going out at this stage like they did last year when they were knocked out by Atalanta.
The teams are coming out onto the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.
Milan lead 2-0 at the break through Piatek's brace. The forward has never scored for the club before, but was clinical in front of goal to give his side the advantage. Napoli did have more possession and created more chances in the half, but their end product was lacking and they wasted their chances to get on the scoresheet.
Ancelotti might want to consider making a change at the start of the second half to give his side something different to work with. They've kept the ball well in midfield, but their poor balls into the box have cost them the chance to get a goal back. As for Milan, they'll be happy with their performance in the first half, and if they continue to take the opportunities they do get, then they could easily get on the scoresheet again to secure the tie.
That's all for tonight, goodbye!
So, Milan reach the semi-final of the Coppa Italia for the second consecutive season, something they haven't managed to do for seven years. Napoli, on the other hand, are out of the competition at the quarter-final stage for the second year in a row, and Ancelotti will be hoping his side can perform much better when they face Sampdoria in Serie A on Saturday.
