Yoshida lost his balance after getting his shot away but he stretched his leg out to reach the ball first once again so that he could tap it onto Long to get the goal.
LONG SCORES SOUTHAMPTON'S THIRD! It was poor defending from Wolves and they just can't get the corner clear after it comes into the box. Yoshida had the original shot, but it was blocked by Coady and Long got on the rebound to fire the shot into the back of the net to give them a two-goal advantage. 3-1 Southampton!

63'
Wolves are slowing the pace of the game down a little bit now as they patiently try to build up an attack from the back. A throughball by Dendoncker picks out Jota on the edge of the box, but Vestergaard makes an important interception to stop him from playing in Jimenez.
61'
S. Long enters the game and replaces D. Ings.
Oriol Romeu enters the game and replaces J. Sims.

Moutinho plays a short corner with Jonny and when he gets it back, he tries to curl his cross towards the far post. All of his team-mates had made the run to the near post though and Vestergaard was able to get it clear.

Wolves have made a very bright start to the second half and are causing Southampton a lot of problems in and around their own box, but so far they haven't been able to manage an effort on target that would trouble Gunn.

Southampton get the game back underway for the second half.

The referee has come across to have a word with Jota after he tried to claim that Gunn was wasting time. He has gone back and awarded Southampton a free-kick though as Jimenez tried to prevent the keeper from kicking the ball out of his box.
44'
Vestergaard almost plays his side into trouble as he takes too long to pick out a pass to his team-mate. Jimenez closed him down quickly and intercepted his pass to Gunn, but the defender recovered well to get back and see the ball out for a corner, which comes to nothing.
42'
Both sides have been a bit sloppy in possession when they start moving forward which is just disrupting the rhythm of the game at the minute.
40'
João Moutinho gets yellow.
Moutinho receives the first yellow card of the game after a bad challenge on Redmond.

37'
Wolves are piling players forward again at the minute as they chase another equaliser, but Southampton are staying compact and limiting them to long-range efforts for the time being.
35'
Moutinho's cross from the corner wasn't great his time and Bednarek gets it clear, but only as far as Neves. The midfielder takes the shot first time from outside the box, but it is just wide of the near post.

30'
N. Redmond has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by D. Ings.
It was the quick play from Southampton that catches Wolves out but when Ings receives the ball, he gets his head up and quickly plays in Redmond to set up the chance.
REDMOND GIVES SOUTHAMPTON THE LEAD AGAIN! He times his run perfectly to make sure he is on side so he's left one-on-one with the keeper. Patricio is quickly off his line to meet him, but Redmond keeps cool and chips the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net. 2-1 Southampton!
28'
W. Boly has scored a goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers! Assist by João Moutinho.
Moutinho's corner was whipped into a great area of the box and he missed all the Southampton defenders crowded at the near post to pick out his team-mate.
BOLY EQUALISES FOR WOLVES! He rises the highest in the middle of the box to get on the end of Moutinho's corner and he heads the ball back across goal and past Gunn into the back of the net. 1-1!
27'
Jonny does really well to get past the two Southampton defenders closing him down and get into the box to pick out Dendoncker on the penalty spot. He doesn't make great contact with the ball though and it pinballs around the box. There are a few half-hearted shouts for a penalty when it hits Vestergaard on the arm, but the referee waves the claim away.
23'
Jota has started dropping back to pick up the ball in midfield now as Southampton are more compact in defence than they were a bit earlier and Wolves are looking to their wide players to try and find a way into the box now.
21'
All of the Southampton players are in their own half trying to close down the space and stop Wolves from getting into the final third. When they do win the ball back though, they needlessly give it back to their opponents.
17'
This time a sloppy pass from Ward-Prowse allows Boly to win back the ball and he picks out Jota who is making a run into the box from the left. Jimenez was up in support and wasn't marked, but Jota decided to take the shot himself and Yoshida made an important block to deny him.

Wolves have settled into the game now and are looking a lot more dangerous when they do get into the final third. Southampton are still trying to press quickly, but they aren't having as much luck as they were before.

Wolves get the game underway at the St Mary's!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Southampton and Wolves at the St Mary's Stadium!
Southampton come into this game having won just five of their 12 Premier League games so far in 2019 (D3 L4), with two of those wins coming in their previous three. Wolves were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-final last weekend after a 3-2 defeat to Watford after extra-time and have won just three of their last eight matches in all competitions (D2 L3).
SOUTHAMPTON STARTING XI (3-4-2-1): Angus Gunn; Jan Bednarek, Maya Yoshida, Jannik Vestergaard; Yan Valery, James Ward-Prowse, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ryan Bertrand; Josh Sims, Nathan Redmond; Danny Ings.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Alex McCarthy, Oriol Romeu, Stuart Armstrong, Matt Targett, Jack Stephens, Charlie Austin, Shane Long.
WOLVES SUBS: John Ruddy, Ruben Vinagre, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ivan Cavaleiro, Ryan Bennett, Helder Costa, Adama Traore.
The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.
Wolves have created the better chances of the game and Nuno will be hoping that they will carry on in the same way that they played in the first half as they looked very dangerous. If they can get on the front foot early on, then they have a good chance of finding a quick equaliser to get them back into the game. Hasenhuttl will be very pleased with how his side started the game and reacted to being pegged back and he will want them to continue playing the way they did in the first half to secure the much-needed three points.
Southampton now go eight points clear of the drop zone after Cardiff City and Brighton and Hove Albion both lost below them. They now turn their attention to the game against Newcastle United next weekend and Hasenhuttl will be glad that they are back to winning ways as they continue to fight to avoid relegation. Wolves miss out on the chance to go back to seventh after Leicester City won yesterday and they will be hoping that they can get back to winning ways when they face Brighton next Saturday.
