These two sides last met in a friendly match back in October when Iceland almost sealed an unlikely victory at the Stade de France. They were leading 2-0 with five minutes remaining, but Eyjolfsson’s own goal and a late Mbappe penalty saw France salvage a 2-2 draw. Can Iceland cause more problems for their opponents tonight?
The players are heading out of the tunnel and we are almost ready for kick-off.
France got their qualifying campaign off to a flying start with a 4-1 win over Moldova on Friday. The world champions cruised to victory courtesy of goals from Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and Raphael Varane. Iceland also enter the game on the back of a win after they beat Andorra 2-0, with Birkir Bjarnason and Vidar Orn Kjartansson on target.
ICELAND (5-3-2): Hannes Thor Halldorsson; Birkir Mar Saevarsson, Sverrir Ingason, Kari Amason, Ragnar Sigurdsson, Hordur Magnusson; Runar Mar Sigurjonsson, Aron Gunnarsson, Birkir Bjamason; Gylfi Sigurdsson, Johann Gudmundsson.
Mbappe has been at the heart of France's dominance so far, with many of his deliveries and dribbles causing problems for Iceland's defence. However, Iceland look threatening from set-pieces and this is something they should look to exploit in the second period.
France are now looking to make it three wins out of three when they travel to face Turkey in June, while Iceland will attempt to bounce back when they host Albania.
That's all from the Stade de France. Thank you for following our live coverage of this Euro 2020 qualifier!
