Argentina get the game underway at the Wanda Metropolitano!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the international friendly match between Argentina and Venezuela at the Wanda Metropolitano!
Lionel Scaloni has made a fairly good start to his time in charge of Argentina after taking over following the World Cup and has suffered just one defeat in his six friendly games (W4 D1). He also has the added boost of Lionel Messi coming back into the squad after a nine month absence from the international side. Venezuela are also on a good run, recording three wins out of their five friendly games in 2018 (D1 L1).
ARGENTINA SUBS: Agustin Marchesin, Juan Musso, Walter Kannemann, Roberto Pereyra, Marcos Acuna, Dario Benedetto, Ivan Marcone, Matias Zaracho, Paulo Dybala, Sebastian Blanco, Renzo Saravia, Matias Suarez.
ARGENTINA STARTING XI (3-4-2-1): Franco Armani; Lisandro Martinez, Juan Foyth, Gabriel Mercado; Nicolas Tagliafico, Giovanni Lo Celso, Gonzalo Montiel; Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Martinez; Lautaro Martinez.
The teams are out on the pitch now with kick-off just moments away.
VENEZUELA STARTING XI (4-3-3): Wuilker Farinez; Roberto Rosales, Mikel Villanueva, Yordan Osorio, Ronald Hernandez; Junior Moreno, Tomas Rincon, Yangel Herrera; Darwin Machis, Salomon Rondon, Jhon Murillo.
Dudamel will be very happy with his side's performance after the first half, and he will know that there is a chance for more goals if they carry on the same way in the second half. Scaloni, on the other hand, will be unhappy with his side's defensive performance and will need to sort that out if he wants to get back into the game.
VENEZUELA SUBS: Rafael Romo, Jhon Chancellor, Juanpi, Sergio Cordova, Yeferson Soteldo, Luis Manuel Seijas, Luis Mago, Josef Martinez, Alexander Gonzalez, Arquimedes Figuera, Fernando Aristeguieta, Jan Carlos Hurtado.
That's all for today, goodbye!
Scaloni has plenty to work on before his team face Morocco on Tuesday and will have a lot of thinking to do as he starts to consider his options for the Copa America qualifiers. Dudamel, on the other hand, can take a lot of positives away from the victory as his team performed brilliantly and looked extremely dangerous on the counter-attack. Venezuela don't have another game during this international break and will have to wait until June for their next friendly game when they face Mexico.
