We're into the last of three minutes of added time at WWK Arena. Time is running out for Augsburg.
90' +2
Javi Martínez gets yellow.
Martinez throws the ball away and picks up a yellow.
88'
Ji loses the ball twice in quick succession by trying ambitious passes. Augsburg could do with some more poise in the attacking third.
85'
Bayern have undoubtedly bossed the ball thus far, tallying almost 75 per cent of possession. That should help them through these closing stages.
82'
Javi Martínez enters the game and replaces Thiago Alcântara.
Time for the champions to shore up the midfield. Thiago takes his leave and Martinez comes on to add some defensive nous.
81'
Kovac is unlikely to be completely satisfied with the quality of this performance, but he will be desperate for Bayern to bank three points. They have just under 10 minutes of normal time to preserve their 3-2 lead.
78'
Koo Ja-Cheol enters the game and replaces J. Morávek.
Augsburg turn to midfielder Koo to provide some creativity in breaking down this Bayern defence. He replaces Moravek.
76'
M. Richter gets yellow.
Richter, who has been on the pitch less than 10 minutes, goes into the book following a lunging challenge on Kimmich.
74'
While they're comfortable enough at the moment, Bayern will surely want another goal to put this game to bed. They've had the opportunities to have done that by now.
Minute
Description
72'
L. Goretzka gets yellow.
Goretzka impedes Max's progress and the referee awards the first booking of the match. An easy decision.
69'
M. Richter enters the game and replaces K. Stafylidis.
Baum makes his first change as Richter is thrown on in place of Stafylidis. The hosts look to have switched to a 4-4-2.
64'
F. Ribéry enters the game and replaces S. Gnabry.
Not a particularly good night for Gnabry. He's replaced by Ribery.
59'
Coman wins a corner after again pulling two defenders into his orbit. The attacker has been the best player on the pitch.
56'
T. Müller enters the game and replaces J. Rodríguez.
Effective if not entirely convincing from Neuer as he shovels a swerving Ji effort away from harm.
Muller, who will of course play no part at Anfield, is introduced before the hour. James makes way, the playmaker having failed to replicate the influential performance he produced against Schalke.
53'
D. Alaba has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by K. Coman.
That's two goals and an assist now on what has been an excellent outing for Coman. He attracted two defenders before finding Alaba breaking into the box.
GOAL!!! Bayern lead for the first time and it's an unerring finish across Kobel from Alaba, who received Coman's pass, got it out of his feet and speared a superb shot into the bottom-right corner. Much to their relief, the champions lead 3-2.
52'
Stafylidis sends a speculative shot a long way wide of goal. Bayern are back on the front foot.
50'
A let-off for Kobel. He didn't quite reach Gnabry's low ball in from the right and it diverted behind off Lewandowski, although the assistant has flagged for offside.
46'
We're back underway at WWK Arena, where it's 2-2 between Augsburg and Bayern. Kovac's men have possession.
45' +4
HALF-TIME: AUGSBURG 2-2 BAYERN MUNICH
45' +3
K. Coman has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by L. Goretzka.
Bayern attacked in numbers deep into first-half stoppage time and worked the overload on the left, with midfielder Goretzka slipping a neat pass into Coman's feet just inside the penalty area.
GOALLL!!! Coman comes up big for the second time in this match. Found on the left by Goretzka, he drives a cool left-footed finish through the legs of Kobel, who may feel as though he should have done better. Bayern claw it back to 2-2 right on half-time.
45' +1
We've just ticked into three minutes of added time at the end of the first half.
44'
An important intervention from Coman in Bayern's box as he slides the ball away from Schmid just as the wing-back was about to pull the trigger.
39'
A couple of nervy moments for Augsburg in the last little period but they continue to lead 2-1 with around seven minutes of normal time remaining in this first half.
34'
CROSSBAR! Lewandowski rises between Danso and Khedira from a corner and makes a clean connection with his header, but it comes back off the woodwork. Kobel was beaten.
31'
Gnabry miscontrols a pass that runs out of play. He and James must improve if Bayern are to get back to level terms again.
26'
Kobel comfortably parries away a well-struck effort from Goretzka.
23'
Ji Dong-Won has scored a goal for Augsburg! Assist by M. Gregoritsch.
Gregoritsch is credited with the assist after Sule's attempt at cutting out the cross ricocheted off the attacker's boot. All credit should go to wing-back Max, though, for another attacking raid of substance.
GOALL!! Augsburg restore their advantage! Max, the architect of the opener, gets to the byline on the left and delivers low into the box, where a touch from Gregoritsch fails to disturb Ji in lashing beyond Neuer. Bayern trail 2-1!
22'
Augsburg goalkeeper Kobel has received some treatment. He's now back to his feet and play has resumed.
20'
The pressure is right back on the hosts now, having seen their shock early lead erased in fairly hasty fashion.
17'
K. Coman has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by J. Kimmich.
Coman is looking like a useful outlet on the left for the away side. He set up that promising chance for an equaliser that Gnabry fluffed.
Though it came from reasonably deep, Kimmich's cross was put into a difficult area for Augsburg to defend.
GOALL!! And it's that man Coman who drags Bayern level! Kimmich's dangerous cross from the right is too high for Goretzka, but it drops perfectly for the France winger to side-foot home at close range. 1-1.
15'
The last few minutes have certainly seen a measure of calm injected into the match following that frantic start. Bayern have begun to earn a strong share of possession.
9'
Bayern's second corner of the match comes to nothing. The onus is on them to make the running. It will be fascinating to observe how Augsburg approach the next 80 minutes or so.
6'
Kovac could hardly have anticipated his side would be forced to retrieve a deficit so early in this match, but their season has been marked by unwanted surprises. They were caught from the kick-off and now have to chase the game.
1'
L. Goretzka is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
We're underway between Augsburg and champions Bayern! The hosts have the ball from the outset.
GOALLL!!! INCREDIBLE! Augsburg have the ball in the back of the net inside 15 seconds as Max escapes to the byline and pulls a pass into the middle that deflects in off Goretzka. A miserable start for the visitors. They trail 1-0.
Hello and welcome to our live commentary of this Bundesliga encounter between Augsburg and Bayern Munich!
Having closed to within five points of top spot with their 3-1 victory over Schalke last weekend, Bayern now have another big opportunity to apply pressure to Borussia Dortmund. The leaders are not in action until Monday's trip to Nurnberg, meaning they will have 72 hours to ruminate on whatever result Niko Kovac's men can manage. Perhaps more important is the need to build confidence and winning momentum ahead of the blockbuster Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.
AUGSBURG XI (4-4-1-1): Gregor Kobel; Jonathan Schmid, Reece Oxford, Kevin Danso, Konstantinos Stafylidis; Ji Dong-won, Jan Moravek, Rani Khedira, Philipp Max; Michael Gregoritsch; Sergio Cordova.
AUGSBURG SUBS: Fabian Giefer, Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker, Felix Gotze, Koo Ja-cheol, Jozo Stanic, Fredrik Jensen, Marco Richter.
BAYERN MUNICH XI (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels, Niklas Sule, David Alaba; Leon Goretzka, Thiago Alcantara; Serge Gnabry, James Rodriguez, Kingsley Coman; Robert Lewandowski.
BAYERN MUNICH SUBS: Sven Ulreich, Rafinha, Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez, Renato Sanches, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery.
Kovac makes two changes to the Bayern side which clinically saw off Schalke. Captain and goalkeeper Neuer returns after missing three matches with a thumb injury, while centre-back Sule is favoured in the heart of defence ahead of fellow Germany international Boateng. Experienced midfielder Muller surprisingly stays on the bench despite being suspended for both legs of the Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool.
The players are out on the pitch and we're just moments away from kick-off at WWK Arena!
Though Kimmich supplied the first of Coman's brace, the right side of Bayern's defence has been exposed for both Augsburg goals. That is just one area for Kovac to address heading into the second half. To their credit, his team displayed character in twice bouncing back from deficits and will expect to go on and win this one in order to trim Dortmund's lead at the top.
The champions now sit just two points adrift of Dortmund, at least until the leaders meet Nurnberg on Monday. That match comes 24 hours before Bayern's mouth-watering Champions League last-16 date with Liverpool, who will not be overly concerned by what they would have seen at WWK Arena. Augsburg delivered a plucky effort and looked like causing an upset after going ahead inside 15 seconds, but remain mired in a relegation battle with 12 matches still to play this season.
That concludes our live commentary of an entertaining five-goal affair and a winning Champions League warm-up for Bayern. We hope to have your company again soon. Until then, it's goodbye for now!
