The teams are out and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Santiago Bernabeu.
The home side have lost on only one occasion in their previous seven matches in all competitions. Real Madrid currently sit third in the table and a win tonight would see them move eight points behind Barcelona at the top of the league. Alaves, on the other hand, are without a win in their last three La Liga fixtures and currently sit in 7th. A win this evening, however, could see the away side move into the top five.
Following an extremely dominant first half, Real Madrid find themselves leading at the break thanks to Benzema’s goal on the half-hour mark. Vinicius combined well with Reguilon to send the Spaniard into the box before the defender slid the ball across goal for Benzema to tap into the back of the net. Alaves are yet to have a shot on target and really struggled to cause the hosts any problems.
The home side will look to turn their vast amount of possession into clear-cut chances in the second half as they look to extend their lead. Vinicius has looked dangerous down the left-hand side with the hosts managing to get in behind on numerous occasions. Alaves, meanwhile, will need to get more bodies in and around Calleri who is looking extremely isolated.
Real Madrid travel to Atletico Madrid in their next league fixture as they look to continue their fine form. Before that, however, they face league leaders Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final. Alaves, meanwhile, host Levante as they look to respond following their recent run of defeats.
That brings an end to our coverage of the La Liga fixture between Real Madrid and Alaves at Santiago Bernabeu. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
