Both sides are decked out in their usual colours, with Leicester sporting all-blue while United are in their famed red shirts and white shorts.
Referee Mike Dean blows his whistle, and United get us underway at the King Power!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of this Premier League clash as Leicester City host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium!
Eleventh-placed Leicester are currently in the midst of a run that hasn’t seen them win a game since New Year’s Day, the nadir being a shock defeat at Newport County which saw them stumble out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle. However, they do have a habit of rising to the occasion when playing the ‘top six’, and Claude Puel will need his Foxes to step up once again if they are to get back to the top half of the table.
The feelgood factor at United was dented somewhat after drawing at home to Burnley, with the visitors having led 2-0 until the hosts evoked the spirit of Sir Alex Ferguson’s past sides and staged a dramatic comeback. Currently sitting five points behind the Champions League spots in sixth, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s resurgent Red Devils will be aiming to win five straight away matches for the first time since October 2012 under Ferguson.
SUBSTITUTES: Danny Ward, Hamza Choudhury, Wes Morgan, Rachid Ghezzal, Shinji Okazaki, Kelechi Iheanacho, Christian Fuchs.
And without further ado, let’s take a look at how both sides line up, starting with the hosts.
SUBSTITUTES: Sergio Romero, Fred, Juan Mata, Diogo Dalot, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David De Gea; Ashley Young (c), Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic; Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez; Marcus Rashford.
LEICESTER CITY (4-2-3-1): Kasper Schmeichel (c); Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell; Nampalys Mendy, Wilfred Ndidi; Demarai Gray, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Jamie Vardy.
The players are out and kick-off is drawing near.
Despite their good record against the league’s elite this season, Leicester have been unable to showcase their battling qualities against United throughout the half. Only two of their eight shots have been on target, as the Foxes have barely been able to threaten De Gea and the defence in front of him. Puel will hope for a vastly improved display after the interval as they aim to get back in the top half of the table.
As for United, they’ve barely stepped out of second gear since Rashford’s early opener. The Red Devils have looked comfortable throughout, limiting the hosts’ chances to a couple of long-range efforts, but Solskjaer will still be wary of the threat that Vardy and company carry.
And that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed our commentary, and until next time, goodbye!
Both sides head down to the capital for Premier League action next weekend, as United face relegation candidates Fulham at Craven Cottage on the Saturday, while Leicester travel to Wembley for what promises to be an entertaining affair against Tottenham Hotspur on the following day.
