We're underway in Berlin.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Bundesliga clash between Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion.
Bayern begin life without Carlo Ancelotti with a trip to the capital. The Italian was sacked after his side's hammering at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain during the week, with reports suggesting that there was unrest between the manager and his players.
Willy Sagnol will take charge of first-team duties until a permanent successor to Ancelotti is found. It's an important contest for the reigning champions as they can ill afford to fall further off the pace of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table. Dortmund's win over Augsburg has taken them six points clear at the top, with Bayern needing a reponse this afternoon.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Hertha had their own disappointing loss in Europe this week as they went down 1-0 to Swedish side Ostersunds FK. Pal Dardai's side lost their last league outing to Mainz 05 on the road, but in their last match at the Olympiastadion they did produce a strong display to defeat Bayer Leverkusen. They will be up for the challenge this afternoon.
Hertha have made eight changes to their side that was beaten by Ostersunds FK during the week. Rune Jarstein returns between the sticks, while Ondrej Duda, Vladimir Darida, Salomon Kalou, Genki Haraguchi, Marvin Plattenhardt, Karim Rekik and Mathew Leckie come into the fold.
Sagnol makes four changes to the side that lost during the week to PSG. Franck Ribery, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Arjen Robben are restored to the line-up, with Javi Martinez moving into the middle of the park.
FLASHBACK! Bayern needed a stoppage-time strike from Robert Lewandowski to avoid defeat to Hertha in this contest last season. Vedad Ibisevic had put Hertha ahead, but they were denied the three points by the Pole.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: HERTHA 0-1 BAYERN
Bayern take a 1-0 lead into the break against Hertha as Mats Hummels' strike separates the two sides. Willy Sagnol has enjoyed a good first 45 minutes of management as his side have been on top and should be further ahead. However, the visitors did get the benefit of the video review system, which chalked off a penalty for Hertha as Javi Martinez brought down Vladimir Darida in the area. After consulating the footage overturned his decision, much to the relief of the Bayern bench.
The players are back out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: HERTHA BERLIN 2-2 BAYERN MUNICH
Bayern lose further ground at the top of the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund after allowing a two-goal lead to slip for the second game on the bounce. In his first game in charge Willy Sagnol saw his side take a 2-0 lead as goals from Mats Hummels then Robert Lewandowski put them ahead. However, Ondrej Duda got a goal back for Hertha Berlin before Salomon Kalou equalised minutes later. Worryingly for Bayern they struggled to create any clear-cut openings to retake the advantage as the match ended in a draw, leaving them five points off the pace of Dortmund.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
